Distribute food and hygiene materials
In times of crisis, families can have difficulties to get enough food or hygiene items as the prices increase or they can be difficult to find. Your role involves organising and overseeing the effective distribution of these essential supplies to ensure they reach those in dire need.
In response to the Gaza conflict, Terre des hommes delivered aid convoys from Egypt, ensuring the distribution of food, first aid material, baby formula, diapers and survival blankets to 5,000 displaced families.

Offer psychological support
In times of crisis, children are affected a lot psychologically. This can result in severe trauma if they don’t receive the adequate support. You organise psychosocial activities for children and their families, to help them understand and manage their emotions.
In response to the Gaza conflict, we coordinated with local partners to organise emergency psychosocial activities to displaced children and their families.
“Instead of bedtime stories, they hear explosions; instead of dreams, they endure nightmares.” – Khitam Abuhamad, Head of Tdh Gaza Office

With community volunteers
Your efforts to train and mobilize volunteers can significantly amplify the impact of your projects.
In Myanmar, Tdh volunteers play a crucial role in our mobile health clinics for pregnant women and children under five. They encourage local attendance and promote health practices to combat malnutrition.
“Thanks to my help, some mothers have changed their behaviour and are now exclusively breastfeeding.” – Daw Aye Mar, volunteer

With local authorities
Your strategy involves strengthening relationships with local authorities to ensure the sustainability and reach of health services.
In Kenya, our partnership with local authorities allows us to provide vital support to malnourished children and mothers in remote villages.
“Our goal is to empower Kenyan authorities to do more. Our mobile teams strengthened the skills of several dozen health and child protection workers so that they can detect malnutrition and act directly within their communities. “ – Céline Beaudic, Head of Tdh’s delegation in Kenya

To assist child victims of crimes
Many criminal proceedings are not adapted to the needs of children and therefore close a door for them to get justice. You promote this tool to ensure it reaches and assists as many children as possible.
Our i-ACCESS MyRights tool, integrating artificial intelligence, simplifies legal processes for young victims.
“Children are not informed where to refer to, whom to talk to, who will believe them. An offence was committed against me and I didn’t know what to do.” – 17-year-old Romanian girl

To prevent sexual violence
Many girls and boys don’t know how to prevent risks of sexual abuse and violence when something happens. By expanding the reach of tools, you ensure that more children have access to crucial information and support.
In India, our AI-driven RoboMitra app serves as a virtual assistant to help youth navigate challenging situations related to sexual abuse and violence.

Employ experts that are refugees
You are empowering refugees to use their unique perspectives and empathy to provide support to children, facilitating their integration and recovery. In Egypt, Tdh provided psychosocial and mental health support to more than 9,000 people.
“I dedicated a lot of time to providing psychosocial support, facilitating social integration for the Sudanese refugee family in Egypt, and ensuring education for the children. The result was beyond my imagination.” – Sayeda El-Arshy, psychosocial specialist and herself a Sudanese refugee

Involve refugee children
With this choice, you help amplify refugee children’s voices at international forums, making sure they are integral in shaping the policies that affect them.
“Refugee children’s voices matter and we want governments to hear us. We’ve faced difficult times, like me when I left Ukraine because of war. We just want to be safe, happy, heard, and included, because it is our right to live in peace.” – Sofia, 15 years old, supported by Tdh to participate in the Global Refugee Forum

Advocate for the rights and dignity of children
“All children deserve a life of dignity, wherever they are.” – Barbara Hintermann, Director General of Tdh
Despite increasing inclusion of children in decision-making processes, conflicts and the increase of extreme poverty have left millions deprived of their basic rights. Your work focuses on enhancing advocacy efforts and service delivery to ensure every child can enjoy their rights and live a life of dignity. In doing so, you are supporting the cause relentlessly defended by Terre des hommes teams around the world.
